We are excited to share with you news from our most recent trip to Peru, which was an excellent time of impartation and blessing for the entire ministry at Santa Maria Children’s Home. Through your giving and God’s gracious supply, we were again able to fill up the pantry with much-needed food items, pay all of the monthly utility bills that the home incurs, and bring large smiles to all of the children’s faces when they saw that we had brought them lollipops and cake! They eagerly await our visits, knowing that it means far more than basic needs being supplied; our presence also signifies extra love, hugs, and delicious treats they otherwise do not receive. It is a JOY to know that you are partnering with us in making glad the hearts of needy children. Thank you very much for your faithful prayers and financial support!
Another critical aspect of our time in Lima this trip was the opportunity to impart to the new directors that are now running the orphanage. These men—Miguel Baldeos and Eddy—were themselves raised as children in Santa Maria’s, and they understand very well how the children feel. We were able to share with them from our experiences and offer to them practical advice for the home and vision concerning how they might establish a pig farm that could generate additional income for the orphanage, as well as provide the children with hands-on learning and experience in an agricultural setting. We feel very encouraged by the commitment that Miguel and Eddy exhibit concerning the call of God on their lives.
The weather during this time of year in Peru is very humid and cold. Drizzly days are common in Lima, leaving one with a persistent wet and cold feeling all over. We are grateful that the children have warm beds in which to sleep and clothing to keep them warm. Thank you for making it all possible.
As we close this newsletter, we want to exhort you to trust the Lord in whatever situation you find yourself right now. As Philippians 4:6-7 states, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (NIV) God hears your prayers; you can trust Him to answer.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Rom. 15:13)
Gratefully,
